Firefighter Inspired By Curious George

Kenner absolutely loves Curious George. He loves his Curious George shows, doll, and books. Recently, we have been reading Kenner a Curious George book before bed. I really don't think he has a favorite story, but there is a favorite thing that he loves to immitate. That would be Curious George dressing up as a fireman. We obviously don't have the right firefighter gear, so Kenner ALWAYS goes in my closet, gets my black boots, puts them on, dumps out his legos, puts the legos box on his head, and he is ready to put out fires (or in his case he likes to put fire on you. Don't ask). He is always doing this and I can only guess this page of Curious George is what inspired it all.

Hunny and Son

It is habit for me to call Kenner "Hunny" or "Son" when I'm talking to him. Out of the blue one day he started to refer to me as "Hunny" or sometimes he'll call me "Son". He's been doing it ever since. I would normally correct him to call me Mommy, but listening to it makes it quite difficult to correct. It is just so darn cute.

A Few Examples: Remember, this is Kenner talking

"What did you say Hunny?"

"Son, come look at me Son"

"What are you making Hunny?"

"I'm sorry Son"

How Does He Do It?

Kameron is known for covering his face with his blanket when he falls asleep so as soon as we know he's sleeping we have to go in his room to remove the blanket from his face. We've been surprised quite a few times to not find his blanket over his face, but rather the oddest sleeping positions. One time he was literaly folded in half (he's done that a couple of times. He must like it). Another time he took down is bumper pad, used it as a pillow and fell asleep with his hand in his diaper. Whatever helps him sleep I guess.

Best Gift Of All (so to speak)

Kenner has given Brian and I one of the greatest gifts this year. Many of you may be able to understand how exciting this is. If you haven't, you will, some day. Kenner is finally potty trained. We have been working on this for quite some time, but he was never clearly ready until we just stuck him in big boy underwear and told him no more diapers. He then decided to go on the potty after he realized having wet underwear was not fun. We only wish that we rewarded differently because I'm sure cavities are building up in that little boy's mouth due to potty treats. Luckily, it was around Halloween time so we had the treats already and they're running out, but in the future we will reward with stickers or something other than candy, candy, candy.

House Divided

Brian's family are huge University of Utah fans whereas my family are huge BYU fans.

Poor Kenner and Kameron. Both families are trying to sway them toward their team. Meanwhile, they have no idea what to do or who to root for.

I understand that Utah beat BYU on Saturday, but that means nothing to these boys. They are confused and always will be. Of course, until they realize that they have always been BYU fans and always will. Until then, we will always be a

Humanitarian Aid

For our Relief Society Enrichment this month we did Humanitarian Aid projects. Many worked on Christmas cards for the soldiers, others sewed baby blankets, some put hygene kits together, and I and a few others went to a Senior Citizen home and played BINGO with the residents. I forgot that Brian had to work that day, so I was debating if I should still go since I had the kids. I decided to do go and I'm glad I did. It was heartwarming to see these elderly people get excited to see Kenner and Kameron even though they didn't know them. They were kids and they were visitors, so that was a good combination. Before we went, I explained to Kenner that we were going to go see a lot of Grandmas and Grandpas. He gets very shy around strangers so I thought if I told him who was going to see, he wouldn't be scared of them. After all, when he hears Grandma and Grandpa he thinks of nice people who love him. He did awesome at the Senior Citizen home. I was surprised to see him talking to some of the ladies (all of them that played were ladies) and he helped call the numbers. I'm grateful that I was able to introduce serving others to Kenner. I'm hoping that I can find more opportunities that will involve Kenner being there and show him how wonderful it is to serve others.

Kenner Moments

Kenner was helping me paint a shelf for his bedroom. He thought it was pretty cool.

During nap, I heard Kenner cry for a second, but then stopped. A few minutes after it was quiet again I went to check on him. He was sound asleep on Brian's oversized cow (a story of it's own).

I wonder if he fell off his bed.

While we were cleaning up dinner Kenner clearly was not finished. He grabbed the potatos and helped himself.

Kenner and Brian love to wrestle. When we put Kenner to bed he always asks if he can wrestle or play cars with dad after work the next day. It wears Brian out, but he loves it too.

Kenner calls it fighting, but we're teaching him to call it wrestling. It sounds more nice.

Kameron Moments

When we were at the grocery store Kameron started smacking his lips out of the blue. I'm one of those parents that has to document the baby's firsts no matter what it is that baby does.

Halloween

Kameron's First Halloween

For my birthday, my mom gave me some fabric and a pattern to make a clown costume for Kenner. For not sewing much I gotta say I'm pretty proud of the outcome. I was so tempted at times to call my mother in law and have her help me, but I decided that I was going to do this by myself. Now, I don't like clowns. In fact, they terrify me, but I sucked it up because that's what Kenner wanted to be. He made my fear go away temporarily because he was so cute.

Celebrate Good Times!!

My family was so kind to come all the way from Colorado to celebrate Kenner's birthday. Not only does it mean a lot to Brian and I, but after hearing Kenner talk about everyone coming and everything that he did while everyone was here for weeks on end, I know it meant a lot to Kenner. We love you guys. Thanks again for coming. We miss all of you tons.

If anyone knows Kenner, then you know how much he loves Curious George. Kenner's cousin, Connor, gave Kenner the Curious George books. He loves to read them over and over and over and.... you get the picture. Thank you Connor!

Grandma Lund, Aunt Kristin, Aunt Tanya, and Uncle David were kind to give Kenner his first scooter. Not just any scooter though, Spiderman. OOOh! He also got a memory game and a bingo game that we enjoy playing together.

We were so excited when we found out that my brother, sister in law, and niece were going to be in town during the birthday get-together.

Never a dull moment when these two boys get together. The first night we tried putting them both in Kenner's room to sleep. It did not work. Brian woke up in the night to find that Kenner had turned on the bedroom light awake and ready to play and Connor was sitting up in his bed pooping. That ended it right there. Connor slept with his mom and Kenner cried because we spoiled his fun. 3 year olds are not ready for sleepovers.


While everyone was in town we celebrated Mom's birthday too. I wanted to make her birthday special since she was away from home and she deserves it. Every time she comes into town, she tries to contact a very good friend of hers that she hasn't seen for quite some time. I was able to contact her and invited her to come to dinner and have cake and ice cream. Mom had no idea. When Vicki walked through the door, mom had to take a second look to realize who it was. To say the least she was quite surprised and very happy. We gave her a new sweater, gloves, and hat to keep her warm during her Chemotherapy treatments. I have been blessed to have this woman be my mother. I love her dearly and am always trying to find ways that I can be just like her. It's difficult because she is just that amazing. I don't think I've ever met anyone as Christlike as she is. I love you Mom!!



We always try to get a cousin picture when we're together since they don't happen often. We were minus two, but still did it. Five kids under 3, they did pretty good...briefly. Everyone was trying to go anywhere they could except for Kameron. He sat and smiled as everyone crawled around him. What cuties!

Kenner Turns 3

Happy Birthday Little Buddy!!!!!

Kenner's birthday started out by waking up to a room full of balloons and a Happy Birthday sign. Thanks to dad (his idea) Kenner was in a great mood all day. I think we decided to put balloons in his room every morning so he's always in a great mood.

When we were in Disneyland we decided to get souveneirs that will create memories and traditions. We ended up getting dishes that will be used for birthdays. Kenner was the first to use them. Who would have thought eating a bowl of cereal would be so wonderful, but when the cereal is in a Mickey Mouse bowl, then that explains everything.

We were celebrating Kenner's birthday with my family, but they weren't coming for another few more days, so we went on ahead and gave Kenner a cake on his birthday. It was yummy!!!

The Birdie

Please don't judge us for taking pictures of Kameron holding up his middle finger. When a baby does that either by reflex or just because, it's pretty darn funny.

Towards the end of our California trip Kameron started doing this out of the blue. It was very distinct and only his right hand. Sometimes we would just raise his hand up and the finger would automatically pop up. Sometimes he gets mad when he gets his diaper changed now that he knows how to roll over and we would keep him from doing that, his finger would be straight up. He continued to do this little trick of his for about two weeks. Of course, during Kenner's 3 year check up, I asked the pediatrician about the finger. He could not stop laughing while explaining to me it's nothing to be worried about (not that we were worried). Anyway, please don't be offended, but it had to be posted.

Day 6 At The Beach / Our Last Day

It would be completely silly to go to Southern California and not go to the beach. We went to Newport Beach and loved that we were basically the only ones on that beach. It was beautiful. I could stay at the beach all day just to admire the beauty of the ocean and everything surrounding it.

Kenner was amazed when he saw the ocean. We brought some Subway sandwiches, chips, drinks, and of course, our pale and shovel. Of course I don't show all the pictures that were taken, but I honestly didn't take enough pictures as I would have liked. The ones I have are still priceless.

Kenner absolutely loved the ocean. Trying to avoid the waves was such a fun game to him. Kameron was quite relaxed at the beach. I walked around with him as he layed his head on my shoulder not because he was tired, but he just loved the slight breeze and the sound of the waves. It was soothing. I enjoyed that time to honestly think about how lucky I am to be somewhere so beautiful with the three people I love more than words can say.

Day 5 At Disneyland

Today was meant for families to do their own thing and then meet up every now and then. We had not been to Toon Town yet, so today was a day devoted to Kenner and Kameron (mostly Kenner). We spent the day in Toon Town, rode the MadderHorn again and again, Dumbo, and of course, the carousel (Kenner's favorite). Kenner was so happy and was having so much fun.

When I came back from feeding Kameron, I was surprised to get a soggy hug from Kenner. It was a hot day, so I couldn't be upset with Brian for letting him play in the water.

I took Kenner into Mickey Mouses house while Brian stayed with Kameron (sleeping). Kenner talked on Mickey's phone, played Mickey's piano, slept in Pluto's bed, washed some clothes in Mickey's washing machine, and you get the picture. To no surprise Kenner was excited to Mickey Mouse and ran right up to him to give him hugs. We caught up with Brian outside and told him all about Kenner's adventure in Mickey's house. As we were deciding where to go next, Brian noticed that Kenner was on the other side of the rope in front of Mickey's house. He called Kenner to come back and without a second thought Kenner took off running, forgetting that the rope was there. The rope was just at the right height when it caught Kenner's neck at full speed. Kenner's feet went up in the air and his head smacked on the ground. I didn't see it, but I definitely heard his head hit the ground. After about 10 minutes of calming him down he was ready to keep going. The knot on his head, the size of a golf ball, didn't stop him from having fun.

Day 4 At Sea World

We planned this trip the end of September for several reasons. One of them being because it wouldn't be in the dead hot summer. Well, to our surprise it was so blasted hot when we were there. I think the day we went to Sea World was the hottest. The temperature was a little over 100 degrees. The park was fun, but we were all so miserably hot while we tried to enjoy it.
